This is a very bold and most innovative project that the WEPI Team undertook many years ago in its quest to raise funding to empower every child in every town in every nation ... WE FAILED WITH IT!

 

One can only ponder the magnitude of this loss - to give the world a totally robust, universal digital platform on which the future could have been built, where there would have been no OS platform wars, no browser wars and no standards wars - just power to the people and business.

PROJECT - DTFBGUTA

 

 

 

 

The only true robust open platform that

Digital Information Super Highway

 

 

 

WEPI's wonderful BILL-BUSTER PROJECT was developed by the bold WEPI Team in the late 1980's, early 1990's for IBM, and it was designed to take on the might of the WINTEL - Microsoft and Intel juggernaut.

 

We tried the Australian IBM division, but could not get past their legal gates, so we went to IBM's head office in New York.

 

The solution was based around the acquisition of Charles Lombardo's Multi-Solutions Corporation and to repackage their super cool, super modular, universal platform called simply S1. The goal was to rename S1 and call it US-DOS - Universal Standardized Data Operating System to better sell it to the world as the universal digital platform.

 

The simple SL language in which S1 was developed allowed it to be easily portable to any machine from palmtops to super computers and digital devices, and to achieve this within a few short weeks to months, not years.

 

This would have freed the world from Intel's grip because any chip maker would have been able to harness the power of S1 - US/DOS digital platform. So any and all software would have been able to be used on any chip, device or computer.

 

The digital utopia the world is still trying to find.

 

 

ONLY US/DOS CAN FREE THE WORLD

 

 

 

Microsoft's WINDOWS 95 operating system is designed for micro computer systems. [Yes WIN95 this is old stuff, but that was the reality when US/DOS was formulated]

 

But what is more alarming is the fact that all of Microsoft's operating systems are closed propriety systems which are specifically designed to eliminate Microsoft's competitors in the computer software industry ...

 

But this anti-competitive strategy will extend to other information fields as Microsoft's web grows to encapsulate entertainment, banking, news services and home shopping via its Microsoft Network.

 

Any company that thinks they are immune to Microsoft in the future should be reminded that the corporate graveyard is strewn with Microsoft's unwary victims, even the mighty IBM seems impotent to stop Microsoft.

 

The world needs a viable alternative to Microsoft, and only US/DOS can deliver that freedom to the world.

Remember PROJECT BILL-BUSTER was developed before the Windows 95 dominance, and well before the Internet explosion.

 

As early as 1985 S1 was able to execute MS/DOS software and Unix programs. It's modular structure allowed you to delete features that you did not need therefore making your device faster.

 

But its modular powers also meant that S1 was infinitely extendable so that new features could be added effortlessly. And it could handle over 256 processors at once.

 

Here are some of the super cool features of S1 - USDOS;

 

 

WEPI's bold visionary solution incorporated a strategy that involved strategic acquisitions like joining forces with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, Britannica and other strategic elements to build IBM into a global CONVERGENT POWERHOUSE and deliver this super digital service through its a digital pipeline called IBMnet.

 

The Wall Street Journal was a major feature of the BILL-BUSTER proposal because the WEPI Team believed that ON-LINE trading was going to be an explosive profit stream once the super highway was fully developed.

 

Which has proven to be correct. BILL-BUSTER was years before the AOL-Time Warner merger and the explosion of the Internet. Yes, the solution required great leadership, vision and courage, but it may well have given the world something very, special and very emancipating, and Lou (IBM CEO) and his predecessor would have been the savior of the world. But it was not to be.

 

Maybe it had something to do with our high price tag of $10 billion in IBM stock payable only if WEPI's BILL-BUSTER solution succeeded for IBM, but we'll never know.

 

But BILL-BUSTER was a timely solution at the time because IBM was losing billions each year and didn't know which way to turn. It's stock had collapsed and its board and shareholders were panicking.

 

After IBM rejected PROJECT - DTFBGUTA, we tried to interest Compaq, prior to them ousting their CEO, who shall remain nameless.

 

We taught that the biggest computer player after IBM, who was desperately trying to aggressively enter all sectors of computing through acquisitions, that owning the best universal open platform to unite all its computer businesses under one universal super cool platform would have given Compaq massive global synergies and marketing clout that its rivals would just not be able to match.

 

And Compaq's shareholders would today be basking in the light of a stock worth many hundreds of billions of dollars instead of wallowing where it is today. But it was not to be. Shortly after Compaq began its slippery slide from which it may never recover, now that rivals like Dell have established such strong global footholds.

 

The inclusion of this information on the WEPInet website was to share this precious history with the world. Because it is a profound part of history that must be told, how something very special that may have been had slipped away.

 

Instead of the world having one universal open platform that could be used for all facets of the digital world, we now have a world where there is greater confusion with so many options still haunting us, Linux, Unix and the many tasty flavors of Windows.

 

Can you imagine the massive global synergies and savings the world would be enjoying today had we collectively had the vision and courage to take a different and more emancipating path when we could so easily have done so?

 

The idea was to make USDOS as universal as water so that we could be freed to focus totally on finding the very best digital solutions instead of squandering priceless resources grappling with the daunting choice of - Which platforms?

 

UAC - UNIVERSAL ACCESS CODE

 

But here's the real beautiful jewel of the BILL-BUSTER crown, the digital glue that was going to make it all possible and super tight was the super cool addressing system that the WEPI Team developed called the UAC - UNIVERSAL ACCESS CODE system.

 

A super simple addressing system that did away with phone numbers, both landline and mobile phones, fax numbers, email addresses, website addresses and resource addresses - locators.

 

And united all of them under one simple accessing system called the UNIVERSAL ACCESS CODE, so that you can take this anywhere in the world with you and the world can access you and you it.

 

When you are born you are issued with your UAC. Can you imagine how wonderful and powerful, super effective and super productive the world would be today with a single digital pipeline with its super simple robust platform like USDOS and a super simple universal tele-info accessing system?

 

The inclusion of the above is also to demonstrate to the world that the WEPI Team has always been at the cusp of innovation and boldness in our quest to give this special empowerment WEPInet service to the children, family, regions and nations of the world.

 

We failed many, many times, with many, many innovative funding projects, but it has not stopped us form continuing our unconditionally loving and bold VISION to empower every child on Planet Earth.

 

We continued our work for over ten years from our humble HQ in the sleepy suburb of Cooks Hill in Newcastle in the beautiful Hunter Region by choice, not by circumstance.

 

Our humble bed also pentupled (five ways) as a dinner table, office desk, training room and our boardroom table, because the rest of our small office was filled with research data books and the like, with absolutely no room to scratch our butts.

 

We may give the copy of the BILL-BUSTER proposal to the Smithsonian museum or auction it over the Net to raise some desperately needed funding.

 

It is a priceless piece of civilization's history, and it must be told and shared with all the world. So that we can ponder forever at what may have been if only ...
