Ode To America's Courage and Spirit

Why America's soldiers are the most courageous!

Combat Zone ...

Mogadishu, Somalia, 1993.

A hell that is ravaged with

fear and famine.

No government

and no laws ...

No love and no food,

but plenty of hate and

plenty of bullets.

All that the evil dark side of

humanity can ever muster,

has been mustered in big

dump truck loads in the

squalor that is Mogadishu.

Every male, no matter how

young or old ...

Is a walking time

bomb ready to explode

his rain of terror into the

bodies of rivals and peace

keepers alike.

Yes, they can find weapons

to kill each other, but they

can't for the life of their

nation, find the tools

to love and nourish

each other.

So warlords rob the poor of

their foreign aid to feed

their militia madness.

And the callous militia mayhem

continues ruthless and unrelenting.

The drug induced soldiers

of gross misfortune ...

young and old alike, armed

with their misguided courage.

The sinister warlords with

starvation a choice weapon

of mass destruction to use

against their rivals.

So the great compassionate

USA, under George Bush Senior,

sends in a special rescue

taskforce to ensure the

aid has a safe passage

to the starving masses,

and to end the squalored

pain and misery.

And a co-operative coalition

government was planned

by the warlords.

But Aidid, the most powerful,

chooses to defy.

But the other leaders need

to end the mayhem anyway,

so they meet.

But tragedy of the most

hideous strikes ...

As they talk, a UN blunder

so unthinkable ...

The UN helicopters strike

with their deadly missiles

without warning ...

The leaders are killed,

along with any chance

of peace and freedom

for the Somali people.

And the proud Somali people

brutally turn against the

trigger happy peace keepers.

Now the USA is faced with a

dilemma, if they pull out of

Somalia without installing

a secure platform for peace,

the vacuum will suck all the

terror back in again ...

And all gains will be lost!

The tough answer ...

To eliminate the most

ruthless warlord of all ...

Aidid.

The Somali's greatest threat.

This time it is President Clinton

who sends in a special force ...

Project Gothic Serpent ...

Task Force Ranger

Army Rangers,

Navy Seals,

Air-force Commandos,

Nightstalker Pilots and the

secret Delta Force ...

America's finest to help

the starving Somali.

Their brief ...

To get Aidid and free

the Somali people,

slick and quick.

But Aidid's propaganda

turns the Somali against

the US taskforce.

And things go horribly

wrong ...

A Black Hawk's tail is

clipped by a deadly

rocket grenade.

It tumbles to earth,

lost forever.

Smash, crash and

burn. No survivors.

The frenzied enemy

rush in for their prize.

The lifeless Rangers'

naked bodies are dragged

through the streets of

poverty and squalor

in rapturous triumph.

As the world watches

shocked and dismayed.

In an effort to rescue

a fallen buddy, many

more lives are lost

as the courageous

Rangers defiantly rush

into the torrent of deadly

bullets that scream from

every vantage point, from

every crack and hole

that engulfs their

suicide mission.

And the fear is so damn

overwhelming, it's near

impossible to hide its

unnerving shame.

But hide their fear

they must.

To know that your life is

about to end on some

scummy street in some

god-forsaken place is

just so gut wrenching.

Every angry Somali is armed

with hate and a lethal trigger

finger working over time.

Every screaming bullet

a potential final nail

into a Ranger's flag

draped coffin.

Some Rangers freeze

in sheer fear.

But somehow they find

the will to move forward.

The unwritten code ...

To never ever leave

a mate who has fallen

in battle.

Another Black Hawk

is down. The task is now

near impossible.

The fear and confusion

beyond belief.

And their own rescuers

still many hours away.

It's not too terrifying to

enter battle with the

arrogance of superior

might and confidence.

But to survive a brutal

savaging and make it

back to base, confused

and shattered, covered

with a lost mate's blood.

Then to quickly find your

lost battered courage to

go straight back in again

to face the unrelenting

fear and savagery

to finish the job of

rescuing your injured

buddy ...

Is the most superior

courage of all.

The warlords win this little

dirty skirmish ...

But the Somali people

will lose the war ...

As famine and fear

continue to reign supreme.

The President loses his

nerve because of the

uneasy backlash from

home.

And retreats.

The Rangers are betrayed

because their right to

finish their job is

denied them.

Somalia is abandoned

when they needed the

resolute Rangers the most.

And so ...

The memory of Black Hawk

Down must remain in the

hearts and minds of every

American forever.

It must never ever

be forgotten.

To remind the American

people that their's is

a very special kind

of valor.

In all the modern conflicts,

it is American valor

that saves us.

It is American valor

that funds our freedom.

And it is American valor

that will ensure that

the world will one day

enjoy true peace.

Now we find our world

engulfed in terror and

turmoil ...

We need that special

American valor to

understand that more

American terror

is not the way ...

And that we need that

special American

valor to find a way to

give our world the

lasting peace that

must be ...

The mighty USA exports

fast foods, computers

and movies ...

It is time for her to export

profound love and peace

to our precious world ...

And until she does ...

There will be no precious peace

for our precious world

in our 6 billion lifetimes!

A COOL FOOTNOTE ...

This very special WEPI Empower Poem is a dedication by the WEPI Team to the peace loving American People.

We all condemn Americans, they're too loud, too brash, too arrogant, too successful. Yes they may be all that, but without the American's total dedication to global peace over many decades through funding peace and sacrificing their young people to fight for us, as in Somalia, our world would be pretty bleak.

The Black Hawk Down tragedy best demonstrates the absolute love and courage the American people have for the world.

What prompted the WEPI Team to create this special piece was the documentary about the tragic incident where frightened US soldiers is Somalia, despite their great fears went back into the hostile battlefield to save their fallen buddies - to never let a friend down in battle.

And America never lets her friends down in battle.

And this special poem is meant to always remind us that when the chips are down, we can always count on America to pull us out of the military mess.

And she never sends us a bill for her help.
