POP - THEN A SILENT SPRING
KOOL TOOL
THE TAO (WAY) TO SAVE OUR PLANET

Another WEPI Power Poem
to help us to save our precious planet!
Now this is a very special WEPI KOOL TOOL because its primary, most profound and most critical goal is to remind us all today that what we do in the seasons of summer, autumn and winter will determine the quality of our spring. The deadly chemical concoctions we foolishly and conveniently flush down our rivers, streams and oceans will be with us for a long, long time. This also applies to what we pump into the atmosphere. And it is most profound because without a healthy planet we just won't have a quality life and lifestyle worth living. Can you imagine the kind of life highlighted by the gas mask in the WEPI POP - Then A Silent Spring logo above? If we don't change our foolish, fatal ways today, then that is most surely our grim destiny tomorrow!
We should also remember that we are at the very top of the global food chain, and therefore all the POPs (See footnotes for meaning) from every level of the food chain are accumulated and end up millions of times more deadly by the time we consume the food. Now how frightening is that?
Here's the disturbing yet wonderful and most empowering WEPI Power Poem ...

POP - THEN A SILENT SPRING
By Brian Elly for the kids of the world
The summer saw our oceans and
streams team with vibrant life,
so we deluded ourselves
and ignored the fatal strife
and continued on our merry way
basking in the sunny day.
The autumn saw us work and play,
oblivious to the exorbitant price
we all must one day pay
for all the poisonous POPs
we continue to flush away
each day.
The winter saw in our oceans and streams
our poisonous POPs below now settle,
along with the heavy metal ...
a high price for a beautiful petal.
Beauty and pleasure
always does cost plenty
for we insecure vain gentry ...
the planet's foolish sentry.
The spring saw us with our ears strain,
as we search for nature's
familiar sweet music
to herald in the new life
amid the caustic rain.
But the message is so plain,
as our search begins in vain,
and ends with unbearable pain,
the fish, the birds, the animals,
the tress, and the bees,
our fragile flora and fauna
under our greedy strain ...
all down the murky drain.
Too late ...
We realize that we stand
atop our deadly nourishment chain,
our past coursing through our vain,
because all our icy pops,
and all our lollipops,
and all on our table tops,
all riddled with our chemical POPs.
So now we too must patiently wait
beneath our hazy skies,
prisoners of our warming menagerie,
under our leafless trees,
next to our lifeless waters ...
to catch our inevitable last train.
Oh the excruciating pain!
Because we know now ...
that a silent spring
is nature's final whispering ...
that the end is near.
Nay, maybe it is here?
Or can we finally decide this
very day that this profound
gloomy moment in our brief,
fleeting, greedy, tumultuous
reign on Planet Earth can
indeed be the absolute
Winter of Discontent
with what is ...
And ask ourselves NOW ...
What if I change today?
Or
What can I do today?
